tobyaw: Thinkin’ about feastin’

About time, I think, to start again with Cursus Apri feasts. What about planning out a programme of maybe four feasts a year? We could start with a feast in September or early October, then another just before Xmas (to replace our usual Christmas lunch party).

I fancy a wider selection of time periods, perhaps encompassing anything from Roman through to Victorian, or even early 20th century. And menus based on documented feasts or banquets, or menus occurring in fiction.

sismith42: Medieval Dance event in Edinburgh

hi folks!

I thought people might be interested in the SCA event hapening in Edinburgh in late January: we're doing a day of dance classes, followed by a potluck dinner and ball. Full info is here, if people want to come:

also, there's kitchen space, so if people want to cook there, or, say, visit the farmer's market and get meat and then keep it in the fridge, let me know ;-)

tobyaw: Christmas Feast

Cursus Apri will be hosting a Christmas Feast on Saturday 9 December, from 7pm.

Since this feast is at our home, numbers are limited. There will be some crash-space available. Please let us know as soon as possible if you’d like to come and if you need somewhere to sleep.

Cost: £8 per person (includes wine)

sismith42: Feast in Dec?

So... is there still a feast planned for 8 Dec 9 Dec as per an earlier post? How public will it be? (aka, can I invite random friends who I think may be interested? Or cross post the announcement to the Harpelstane list?)

tobyaw: Weekly A&S meeting

It is time to restart our weekly A&S meetings. You are welcome to join us on Wednesday evenings from 7 to 10pm. The first meeting will be on Wednesday 6 September.

We will cook from a period recipe each week, we will plan forthcoming feasts, we will work on craft projects, and we will have a fine social time.

tobyaw: Cursus Apri revival

After a gap of a few years, we have revived the Cursus Apri name, and will be organising a medieval feast in St Andrews on Saturday 9 December, with quarterly feasts to follow. The feast will be open to anyone who is interested in dressing in garb and playing medieval. It will likely cost £8 to £10 per person.

In the past we have rented the St Andrews Church Hall on Queens Terrace to hold feasts, but we will be looking at alternative venues in St Andrews. Suggestions are welcome.
